About - Aitchison
The
Aitchison brand has been around for more than 35 years. It is synonomous with
innovation in seeding and soil management equipment.
The company has claimed many 'firsts' for the introduction of new
technologies that have greatly helped farmers becoming more effective and efficient.
In cultivation equipment the Easyflow® cultivator became the first wideline
trailed field cultivator soon followed by the Earthquaker® aerator and the
Agrispred® line of ATV fertilizer spreaders. Many competitors followed these
successful Aitchison products but even today Aitchison is still one of the most
prominent players in this market.
The company is probably best known for the Seedmatic® range of tine and
disc drills which were originally introduced as specific highly effective pasture
renovation tools. Such is the versatility of this extensive drill range with
its unique Aitchison sponge seeding system that is now effectively used to sow
everything from cereals to lucerne and brassicas. The now famous Aitchison inverted
T knock on/off boot opener was designed by founder Peter Aitchison in combination
with Massey University more than 25 years ago but is still regarded as a benchmark
for seeding results in just about any seeding environment.
The lineup of drills is very extensive from the highly sophisticated Seedking®
range of professional drills to small specialized drills for vineyards and ATV
bikes.
Most Aitchison drills are allow the flexibility for farmers and contractors
to 'spec' their own machines as the drills are built up in modules.
The Aitchison company and brand were purchased by Reese Agri in 2002 but the
main manufacturing plant is still located in Wanganui , New Zealand . Aitchison
products are popular in New Zealand and successfully sold in a diverse range
of countries including Ireland , UK , France , USA , Japan , South Africa ,
Peru , Mexico and Australia.
